Understanding Issues

Hallion Systems has experience of designing, developing, implementing and managing retail systems for opticians and understands the challenges unique to the optical retail environment:

  • Self selection or the impulse purchase of spectacles is uncommon.
  • The selection process demands that the customer, or patient, tries on numerous frames, which then need to be quickly and easily remerchandised.
  • Visual planograms are not well suited for representing the subtle detailing of frames (colour variations, sizing, side detail, for example).
  • Long replenishment lead times from frame manufacturers are not uncommon.
  • The frame on display that the customer, or patient, selects then needs to be manufactured into a pair of spectacles using in-store glazing laboratories or off site ordering and glazing.
